Sitting Granite heart under stove??

    Hi guys,

I have a granite heart for underneath a double sided stove. It's in two sections with a semi circle hole in each section to fit around the central air intake for the stove.

My question is this. Can I just put a bed of sand down and sit the granite heart sections directly onto the bed of sand and tamp it down level. Then place the stove on it.

My reason for this, instead of sticking it down onto the concrete floor with adhesive or morter, is if I ever have to lift it up again later, or want to change it later on down the line, this would mean it would be easy to life it out again instead of trying to break it out or prise it up etc.

I doubt with the weight of the granite alone and the stove that it would move at all.

    Has anyone else done this??

it would be best to lay it on mortar.mix it at 4 sand and 1 cement.if in the future you want to take it up,there would be no problem breaking the dry mortar.10 min with a hammer and bolster would remove it.mortar on a flat bed like that will lift easy.
