I'm looking for a scrap-yard/garage who might be interested in a 97 Polo. Any pointers?
    Thanks!

For scrapping, you need to give the car to an 'authorised treatment facility' who will give you a certificate of destruction which you send to Shannon to get the car officially registered as permanently off the road. Any other disposal under the heading of scrappage could result in the car ending up back on the road and you'll start getting tickets for speeding and bills for the M50 toll.

The DoE lists these as the two authorised facilities in the Athlone area....

Joe Devery Car Distmantlers, Ballykeeran 090 648 6053
The Hammond Lane Metal Co., Garrycastle. 090 647 3366
