So, my 10 year old landcruiser has cost me in the last month:

    €400 Service
    €400 Manifold and EGR clean
    €100 DOE and Retest
    €800 New Clutch
    €1600 Injector Replacements
    €333 Motor Tax

Total - €3,633 - That's most of my revenue for the sheep for the year gone!

I had an l200 with 130,000 miles that did something like that, when the repairs came to 2000 in a mth I said enough....it still had to get a service and tyres on top of that
Hard to run old vehicles these days, very easy to buy what you have already when you deal in a breakers yard

Ah she's good for many years again. This the returns for the sheep are what's wrong not the repair bill for a 10 year old jeep.. Makes the mind boggle as to to what you'd need in the place to buy a new jeep!

While I was paying, lad in the showroom asked me if I'd be interested in a new model. 60k for the landcruiser business model! That's a lot of lambs!

I think the manufacturers are making things to last 10 years and then throw away these days. We spent similiar money less the injector parts on our 10 landcruiser as well lately. Add to that the €40- €50 of diesal she swallows every time I go to mart or factory. Often thought of putting a tow bar and smaller trailer on family car that does near double the mpg of the jeep. Very Expensive to keep farm vehicle running.

a good indy would safe a lot of money over a main dealer especially with a 10 year old vehicle,

Mr. T. wanted €1200 for injectors for my son's Avensis most likely + vat

€575 for recond injectors at an indy , car A1 2 years & 40k kms later

on the bright side OP your cruiser should serve you well now for many years to come

And many independent places are far superior to main dealerships in terms of work quality. Have had some bad experiences with main dealership services in the past.

Thats a lot to spend on a 10 yr. old jeep.Running costs are depressing enough without having to spend that sort of dosh.
Not to depress you even more but Doe inc. retest would have cost you nearer 150 euro!

Done the clutch here in mine (2006) last month.Think it was about 320 inc. vat for clutch, pressure plate and release bearing from main dealer.Took me best part of a day to do.Simple enough apart from weight of gearbox.Made up a frame to sit on trolley jack(no pit or lift, just jeep up on blocks)
What service did you get done that cost 400?
Did getting the EGR cleaned make any difference? Was it very sooted up?
