Age guide for school

    Can someone help me with an age guide for school? What does it mean Junior infant? senior infant? What is the age that corresponds to these ?

    Junior infants is like K3 . Kids are about 5 and so forth.
    Some kids start school at 4 and others at 5,the school year always starts in Sept.

    All schools have different rules. Some say your child must be 4 by the Jan before they start. Depending also on the waiting list if they have one. Most kids start when they are 4 1/2 or 5

    I can understand the different ages that schools accept kids.

    I don't know junior infant in what age corresponds, senior infant and first class... and so on.

    Starting ages, approximately:

    Junior Infants - 4 to 5 years
    Senior Infants - 5 to 6
    First Class - 6 to 7
    Second Class - 7 to 8
    Third Class - 8 to 9
    Fourth Class - 9 to 10
    Fifth Class - 10 to 11
    Sixth Class - 11 to 12
