Something reliable and hassle free, and not too showy, that I can cruise into work relaxed , and listening to Bob Marley, while the rest of the world gets stressed out. :)

How about an Electric Nissan Leaf, seems to be highly recommended lately

Plugging things in running around with and cables and charge point maps, and wiring house and studying the minutes of charge left, Nah not cool man, thanks but not the relaxed rasta style at all.

seem's at though you're borderline trolling.

no budget, no "i like this car and that car", no i need room for two kids and a dog, no i need petrol for short trips only, no mention of existing car etc.

just i need a car for listening to Bob Marley in.

What you're describing is a train, OP. I'd suggest moving somewhere near a train station, and finding a job near a different station on the same line. All you have to do then is arrange your hours so you're never due in during rush hour.

All these stressed out negative vibes and no chill, campers were OK in the day , but now they just rusty maintenance headaches for hipsters trying too hard.

lexus gs 300, cost buttons second hand, mega relaxed cruiser, great sound system, great seats, great engine, not too showy, basically an over engineered Toyota.

check out the luxobarge thread if thats what you are after. Full of big mercs, bmws, audis, lexus, jags etc

I would say you definitely want an automatic

The cars in luxobarge are not for everyone and I dont think most of the lads posting links would even ever buy them but they are fun to discuss and its a good thread

Apart from that, look at 5 series, e class, a6, gs300 etc, not true luxobarges but mainly automatic, very comfortable and would fit the description of what you want

No BMW let's you fully relax. Older E Class Merc, Saab 9-5 Auto, Nissan Cube CVT, Any Passat on 15 inch rims pre 05, Citroen C8 if you're brave enough, Honda Legend if you're even braver (re running costs) or even a Jeep Grand Cherokee for that American slob experience.

How is a Lexus over engineered, probably the silliest thing i heard for a while. Lexus are probably the best engineered cars in the world. Being a R&D Engineer myself I appreciate fine engineering and build quality. There are many over engineered cars, Lexus are not one of them. Over engineered means too much stuff or equipment that has caused reliability or quality issues. Lexus certainly have lots of equipment but being a upper market brand its par for the course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Over engineered can also mean too much effort put into something making it less cost-efficient when less effort would have probably maybe done the trick almost as well.
