Homesick

So homesick on the other side of the world down under, but scared of coming home due to job prospects, I'm 30 now.

I could do a part time masters while looking for work, to improve chances (could also be off putting to employers due to time commitments!?) but of course it would be better to be working.

Obviously it is very nice down under, the weather is better and job opportunities are better at present, but feel like I want to be home as more friends are around and family around too.

I don't know, I will probably come home, but not sure, has anybody gone through something similar. Just don't want to end up on the dole for a year either.

Things are looking up in certain sectors.

Have you been online to check out employment prospects?

I did a part time Masters across two years. Took up two evenings a week. There were a load of people working full time on the course. Just make sure its something that you are very interested in.

Sorry to hear you are homesick, I have been there and it is rotten. I don't know how long you have been away but if it is only a short time then I would not make any quick decision as time does help. I went from being extremely homesick in a place to hating leaving the same place. We tend to feel we are missing out on much more than we actually are.

I have a friend who is doing a Masters part time in Ireland whilst working at the same time so maybe that would be an option. It depends what your area of work is but as other poster suggested you should check the Irish jobs websites to see what work is available for you.

Things will be better in time and I wish you well.
