Insomnia led me to have a look at the bridges on the M7 Naas bypass with all the widening chatter.

Anyone know the purpose of this overbridge? Doesn't appear to connect to anything

I have a vague memory from this site of someone saying it was actually damaged.

There is rebar exposed on the underside from it being hit by an overheight vehicle. This would just be a repair job normally but it wasn't done - likely due to being out of use and intended for demolition during widening. Exposed rebar can bring rust in to the body and cause further splaying etc.

This bridge is hit repeatedly when trucks are moving bales of hay.

You will regularly see bales of hay sitting on the side of the road at this bridge.

New/refurbished bridge going in that location as part of the sallins bypass / interchange works in next year or two.

For the farm/residence or for junction 9A?

Was it built lower than other motorway bridges? How come other bridges don't knock bales off of lorries?
