+ 1 for Red Mills Excel, rear all my pups on it and put my dogs on it when they are hunting hard. Its a fantastic nut for the price!

Do ye feed yere pups puppy food or ordinary food!

No just get a decent food mix eggs and sardines with it.That should be enough for a growing pup.I never feed nuts on their own.I dont think their is enough nutrients in nuts alone. especial for this time of year.

You need a higher protein for puppys. Xcel is 32%.i would be aiming for a food around 30% min

Most of the dog food is the same **** packaged differently with slight differences to try and fool people into spending big bucks. If your happy and the dog is in good condition with what your feeding and the stool is not running out of them stick with it.add your egg and sardine everyday or every 2nd day what every you think by the dogs condition.Get fat cuts from your butcher when you can and you will have a dog in serious condition. Dont give all the oil from the sardines as it can upset the pups stomach until she gets used to it.

Might be silly question but do you cook the mince or give it raw?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭allan450

i give it raw.some reckon that nuts and raw together digest at different rates and shouldnt feed together but its a load of bull**** if you ask me.iv been feeding it for years now with no problems.I give them a shot of ivomec classic every few weeks in case of internal parasites and thats keeps them in top order.

I prefer raw or grain free dry but for an easy to source and affordable dry food I'd use the Duck and Rice from the Red Mills Engage range.

Red mills engage, have mother on it as well as her pups, she has bounced back, rearing to go out terrorise some birds, also found for a dog who is out working hard, a scoup of welpi on top adds the protein.
