insulated plasterboard over existing dry lining?

    hi,

not convinced it is good to fit 62.5mm insulated plasterboard over 225 hollow block walls that were originally dry-lined with 50x35 battens, quilt insulation between battens, polythene sheet over battens and finished with plain plasterboard & skimmed.

gut tells me to remove existing plasterboard & polythene and fit new insulated plasterboard to existing battens leaving existing quilt in place.

two walls of existing kitchen been considered as kitchen units are been replaced in two storey detached house built about 22 years ago

    thanks in advance
