Hi. Failed on rear brake hose/cable. Is there somewhere I can find out which it is? Have looked and both seem ok. So not sure what exactly I nee to replace. Is there reference to fail codes on their website. Can I ring up and find out? Thabks.

It should say on the sheet whether it's offside or nearside.
I'd guess it's the brake line leading up to the hose.
Any mechanic should know from having a look at it. Shouldn't be too expensive if its that.

Yeah take it to a local mech and bring the fail sheet. It's not an expensive thing to fix.

Must be a steel brake pipe if it says corrosion. What car is it?

Flip over the sheet - there should be highlighter on the diagram of the car.

ha, ya had a look for the yellow chalk, cant see. he lad who did the test mentioned the flexible pipe but no mark on them and they look ok, I would normally fix something like this myself but looks like I will have to bring it to mechanic for a 2nd opinion, the nct explaination should be better than brake pipe/host 47 !!!t
    thanks,

    thanks,

How is it not clear? What does the fail say?

it says, "brake lines/host (47) condition - advanced corrosion. rear offside", more than one pipe/hose there. no visible mark on pipes, doesn't look advanced corrosion(wasn't picked up just over a month ago, hardy developed in that time),. they are dirty alright. cant exactly order parts until I know which part, unless I go replace all pipes.

Definitely a steel pipe so. What kind of car is it?

As i said i reckon its the pipe leading to the hose.
My ford failed on same thing and my mechanic said it was only surface rust/dirt but got the part replaced to be on the safe side and so the tester wouldn't say i only cleaned it up(Even after my mechanic said it should never have failed)
You can use copper pipe instead which any half decent mechanic can flare onto existing line

They do give a bit of trouble with rusting brake pipes alright, in a few different places in the back. You'd need it on a lift to assess the extent of it.
