I am a tenant of a private property. I have been asking my land lord for months had we been registered with Irish Water as i had received nothing in the post. I got the first bill today so i am assuming we weren't registered until now. I hadn't received any information re registration or bills from him. My landlord informed me he had been receiving the bills..... my query is have i now missed the conservation grant due to him not registering us?
Can someone from Irish Water please respond?

In the interim until the reps get here, your landlord can't register you, they can only give your name for correspondence. It's up to the occupier to register themselves.

Anyone who registered their account with Irish Water by June 30th of this year was eligible to apply for this years grant.
Unfortunately, as you were not registered with Irish Water prior to June 30th, you will not qualify for the Water Conservation Grant in 2015. However, you can still register to be eligible to apply for the grant in 2016 and subsequent years.

Our lines are open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5.30pm on Saturdays.

    Thanks TheChizler, that is correct.

A Landlord cannot register a tenant, however a tenant can call us on 1890 448 448 to register their account and ensure accurate billing with Irish Water.

You can find out more information here.

I hope you found this information helpful. If you do have any other questions, please let us know and we will be happy to help.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

That's extremely inflexible irish Water and you wonder why half the country doesn't want to pay

It's not like the information wasn't out there or the deadline wasn't advertised.

I agree it's very unfair.....I asked my landlord numerous times if we were registered and he never replied. Apparently all the bills for this property were going to his address and he never forwarded them on. So now we have registered and it's too late.

Irish Water advises that the person who primarily lives in the property register their details with us on 1890 448 448 and ensure accurate billing.

We advise tenants to call in order to make us aware that they are financially responsible for the property and to update the correspondence to ensure they receive their bills.

If you have not previously registered over the phone, we suggest you do so and you will be eligible to apply for the Water Conservation Grant in 2016, and if you would like to manage your Irish Water account easily, we suggest that you set up an online account here.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead
