Have a 1.5 2005 Almera. Went to start it about an hour ago and wont budge. The engine wont even turn. As soon as i turn the key to turn it over the central locking kicks in and nothing happens. Am I looking at an immobiliser problem here? really need to get to work? any way to over ride this.

Sounds like the battery has clicked it's last. Is it still on the original battery?

It's not really cold enough just yet to cause serious battery problems (give it a month or so) but yeah, a dud battery can cause all kinds of weird stuff.
    Get it jumped.

Had the same issue on my 2002 Almera, it was the battery, replaced it and no issues.

Try push starting it, if it works the starter motors stuffed

    or

Try jump leads, if it works the battery goosed

    Otherwise get a mechanic
