Lateral incisor crown which I had for 3 years fell out as the root cracked. No nerve in it. Currently have a denture until the gum heals. Have decided I am not going the implant route but rather the bridge route. My front incisor is also crowned with no nerve and pretty sturdy. The dentist has given me the option of bridging from the canine or redoing the front incisor. He was swaying towards the front incisor, I agreed and left. Now I am thinking why am I going near a perfect crown to bridge beside it. I only got that one done 3 years ago. Now I thinking bridging off the canine.... which I believe is a sturdy tooth. Advise please?

Is this a convention bridge (involves circumferential drilling of the canine) or a resin bonded bridge( may involve small preparation of inside side of canine).
Resin bonded don't last as long but are more conservative of tooth.
The canine may not be the best abutment as it takes a lot of force, it would be a cantilever too ( one tooth hanging off the side of another)
You may ask why you would damage the crown of the central, I would ask why you would damage a good canine??
Also if the central is root treated, it may not be the best abutment for a cantilever too.....

    Get the implant.....

Yes think its a convention bridge.... how long can I expect this to last. Good canine - yeah probably is but the way I am going it will be have to be done at some stage.

The idea of implant freaks me.... no advantages other than being pretty solid. Pain, money, denture for longer, long process....

I would think a resin bonded cantillever or an implant. A unrestored canine zipped down for a cantillever bridge offer's little over the resin bonded which if done correctly can last for ages. Again your dentist may see thing I cannot know such as the fillin status of the canine and the bite.

The implant is where the smart money is in the long run. highest costs now, lowest cost per year of service. The resin bonded bridge has a low ish cost now and a medium lifespan, when it fails there is usually a simple enough solution.

OK so resin bonded is where it uses the back of canine for support for the new tooth? Like in image included?

Convention bridge is crowning the entire canine?

Resin bonded option not given to me.

Really fearful if he goes off front incisor I will have trouble like I did with this one(lateral incisor). Hence really thinking of going off the canine? But I am no dentist, the more I think about it the more stress it causes!

I know I should do the implant but not happening .....
