    hi all,

Was just thinking last night as that song came on the radio about Paul walker, what are the modern day equivalents to the Mitsubishi Eclipse that he drove in the original fast and furious.

They were actually a buyable and driveable car for Irish conditions, not too low to the road, not overly powerful in regular edition anyway etc

Would it be a v nice petrol BMW etc ? BMW would be a different class of car altogether now that I think about it.

Veloster is really only a modern day Hyundai Coupe, more show than go. Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ (both the same car) are probably as close as you will get - modern, entertaining rwd coupe.

I think the Audi A5 is quite close in concept to the eclipse, in that you can have the basic FWD base models or the fast 4wd models too while using a more mainstream car as its underpinnings.

To be fair an Eclipse wasn't much more special than a Hyundai Coupe either? And an A5 is too expensive and heavy to be comparable IMO

Well it was never sold here so hard to even say what it was like accept for what we read on the net, however it seems it was an under powered FWD coupe very like a Hyundai coupe, GT86 would be a much better option.

back then an eclipse wasn't cheap. it was based on an executive saloon (galant) and was fwd/awd

the world has moved on in 20 years.
