    Hi all
I'm taking my first tentative steps towards putting a fire into the house. My first foray throws up inserts and cassettes. Would anyone be so kind as to explain to the noob what the difference between them is?

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

An insert fire usually goes into a standard fireplace - a cassette usually requires a larger wall opening - go into any reputable fire shop & bring some photos & they can explain the possibilities.
They will have to come to your house to survey it to give an accurate price for fixing.
