another oddball dystopian series .....nearing overload

Define overload? I can only think of a few dystopian shows on TV right now - the two Walking Dead shows and Z Nation.

Defiance, Revolution and The 100 were the ones that came to mind

That's the entertainment industry for you.

You can say the same thing about sitcoms, cop shows, hospital shows, shows set in law firms, super hero shows etc etc.

An ok start the fight scenes and wire work were really good there seems to be a good story in there but it's is let down by how wooden the acting is.

with a lead in from The Walking Dead it will get good numbers so lets see if it can do something with it

I really enjoyed the first episode. Set out the world enough to keep me interested. Fight scenes were really good. Acting was a little wooden but not jarring enough to bother me. Really intrigued as to where it's going.

As it started I hoped it wouldn't feel like Revolution, and it certainly did not.

It will be sticking around for a while with these ratings.

‘Into The Badlands’ Ratings Hit Third Best Cable Debut Ever In Live+3
Having been given the ratings gift of the slot right after blockbuster The Walking Dead, AMC’s new series Into The Badlands has now scored a very nice hit in delayed viewing. In Live+3 results, the post-apocalyptic marital arts series premiere drew 8.2 million total viewers with 5.1 million among adults 18-49 for its Sunday debut.

The rise of 28% in the demo compared with the Live+Same Day ratings marks Into The Badlands as the third-best cable debut ever in L3, behind the start of the Fear The Walking Dead this summer and Better Call Saul in second place and the October 31, 2010 premiere of The Walking Dead in fourth place. In total viewers, the 10 PM Badlands rose 29%, or 1.8 million viewers, from its Live +SD results. Overall Badlands‘ premiere was the second-best on cable for the week ending November 15, right after lead-in TWD.

Good to see a renewal. I think with the latest episode they've really started to show where the show is going and it's settled down a bit. The biggest let down is the acting. I think it holds the show back but the fight scenes more than make up for that. I suspect anyway that the audience for a show like this won't be put off by the less than ideal acting on display. Right now it's a show I look forward to each week and that's a good sign.

Just watched the first 5-10 minutes of this. With that first fight scene I'll definitely give this a go.

never copped this was filmed in Ireland this season until I saw the country house where the Barons meeting was and thought that looks very like an Irish stately home then I saw all the Irish faces popping up

Amazon Video UK has the show rights. Bug them until they get it up in Ireland.

Pretty sure the Cliffs of Moher made it into the final episode of season 2.
A lot of backstabbing.... Literally in season 2.Pity the seasons are so short.

Yeah. Looked eerily familiar to me. Pretty sure it was the cliffs.

Think the next season is extended too.

    Season 3 started last night.

Some more great sword fight scenes make this show worth watching alone.

    Only 3 episodes left.

I love this show. Its an easy watch and nice to see loads of Irish sights in it.
Think it could have run a good bit more and that they are trying to get all the lines tied up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,774 ✭✭✭✭Skerries

nice to see Kilmainham Gaol and Trinity College front square and dining hall last nights episode

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Well that was a fantastic series.

Well that was a fantastic series.

Yeah fighting and stunts were always top notch but it got let down by poor writing and lack of support from AMC. Ended on a pretty big cliffhanger too

I've just started watching Season 1 based on the recommendations here and so far (3 episodes in) I'm loving it.

It's kind of Steam Punk meets Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - the fight scenes are excellent and so far the story line is interesting enough.

Some of the acting is a little overdone (e.g. Marton Csokas as Quinn) but doesn't really take away from the show and Daniel Wu makes up for it.

I'm looking forward to seeing all the Irish locations in the future seasons.

    ....so thank you boards!
