Query about 24Hr hand on Fossil watch

    Hi,

Thought I would ask here before deciding to return the watch.

I bought the Fossil FS5043 watch:
    https://www.fossil.com/us/en/watches/recruiter-multifunction-brown-leather-watch-sku-fs5043p.html

I bought it from the new shop in Kildare Village, it's a gorgeous watch but the only issue I have is I cant seem to be able to set the 24 hour hand. It is set to North american time.

I contacted the fossil site and they gave me the instructions to setting it but they don't seem to work (I have attached the instructions they gave me)
It says to pull out the crown once and then press the button above the crown which will spin the hand. That doesn't work at all.

The only reason it is annoying me is that when it does need a replacement battery the hand will be at a random time.

Has anyone had any experience with a similar watch?

I would appreciate the help :D

I'd be bringing it back to the shop and see if they can get it to set, if not, then replacement/warranty time.

The problem is about the shop is that they had no idea how to operate any of the watches in there, it's why I have gone to the site itself and here for a possible solution. I guess I will need to return it.

Reading the instructions and it seems straightforward enough R and given you've tried this and it didn't work, then it sounds like you may have a dud. It happens. When you do go back and get a replacement try the procedure to set it there and then just to make doubly sure that one works.

Yeah, you're right. I think I am just in denial as I was hoping to find a simple solution instead of going back with it! Ah well, thanks for the help!

You seem to be following instructions for the 8176-1990 movement. This is a quartz movement manufactured by ISASWISS, yet the information on the Fossil web site regarding the watch states it has an automatic mechanical movement!

I can't find any instructions for an automatic GMT/Alarm movement from Fossil.

    Hi,

Yeah, that is one problem, it was practically impossible to get the exact model from their site.

I actually got the instructions from emailing Fossil themselves and they specified that covers the model watch I have.

I'm going to bring it back, it doesn't make sense that something with so little buttons would be this hard to work. It's obviously a dud watch.
I know they had more of the watches there in the store so I will just try the other ones.

Hopefully they have a working one,I really like the design.
