Is kissing someone of the opposite sex cheating?

So I am a gay guy in a short term relationship. At the weekend I went out with some of my friends and got very drunk. I thought it would be funny to give a quick kiss to a random girl in front of my friends and get their reaction. She knew I was gay and there was nothing sexual about it. I know I am 100% gay.

I didn't think anything of the kiss itself at the time, or even now, but then I thought about what my boyfriend, and also my friends, would think.

Should I tell my boyfriend, even though there was nothing sexual/emotional about it? Should I clear it up with my friends? I hope they don't think I was cheating on him!

Am I overthinking this or am I rightly concerned?

What constitutes 'cheating' is subjective from one person to another. Relationships can be accommodating of these types of situations, how accommodating depends on the age/maturity of the relationship and the insecurities you both hold about yourselves and each other.

Do you consider it cheating (you have indicated not) and would your boyfriend be angry/hurt if you told him, or if he heard about it from someone else? If he would not be upset then you can tell him without consequence. If you think he might be upset you may choose to tell him anyway and deal with whatever fallout ensues, or stay silent.

Your friends, on the other hand, should mind their own business.

My boyfriend kissed a girl at a club because he was out with his macho gaa lads. I didnt care..hes not attracted to her so I don't see why it should bother me.

What about :P the girls in the equation? Would a girl be as put off being kissed by a gay guy as a straight guy would be if a straight guy kissed him?

There's no black and white answer to this question really. Some people would see your scenario as cheating in some way, some won't. I've been in a relationship for nearly 10 years and a random, closed-mouth lips kiss wouldn't bother me, or my partner (I know because it's happened but I told her straight away!) but anything above that would. Only you can really know. In some ways it COULD be seen more as disrespectful than cheating, particularly as you did it because it was "funny" or something. The fact that you're here asking the questions means that deep down you're probably not totally convinced your boyfriend would be on board with your opinion of the kiss.
