    ...well not quite, but now that I have your attention, can anybody speak to the legality/NCT worthiness of the picture below

    I would hope to make it bigger, so that the outline exposes as much brake light as possible, but you get the general idea

    Not sure if there's an actual spec as to how big the centre brake light should be.

    I ant see it being a problem as long as its symmetrical.

    That one covers a lot of the light though. It should be remembered why the centre brake light is there in the first place.

    Like I said, the plan would be to increase the size of the silloutte to expose as much brake light as possible

    Not a DIY effort, more a legal question. Moved to main forum.

    I would say it's fine, as there is no particular legislation about the third brake light afaik (as long as the other two are working to specs).
    NCT will probably pass it on the same reason.

    Then again I'm not a lawyer...
