Hi lads, I recently bought a 17"alloy 8"wide. im just stuck between 205 or 215 width tyres. some told me that 205s will be too stretched and some said it'll be fine. Im just wondering wat do ye think will suit my alloys better?
    Thanks for helping

What actual size tyres are you looking at, what car is it for

205 is the ideal width for an 8" rim, that tyre would be flush with the side of the rim. 215 would be marginally chunkier.

Does depend a little on the the car and look you are going for.

I would've thought 215 or 225. 205 would be very narrow on them. I have 7.2" wide wheels with 205s and they wouldn't want to be any narrower IMO.

225 should be what you're looking for on an 8" rim. That's if you're looking for straight sidewalls at least! Anything less and you'll be looking at stretching the tyres to fit, 215 might not be too bad but 205 will definitely be sloping inwards on an 8J rim.

    It's for golf mk6. I'm stuck between 205 45/R17 and 215 45/R17

Do u think 215s will be a good way to go? I want it to be slightly stretchEd but not too much

225/45/17 is what you need to be getting. It's what VW put on them.

Oponeo are doing (delivering) vredestein ultras cento for €82 each, Bridgestone potenza for €83, Pirelli p6000 for €87

It's a common enough size too.

215/50/17 is a bit of an oddball size, to compare, the vredestein ultras cento are €108 each, Bridgestone potenza are €118
