Honda Civic alarm

I have a 06 Honda Civic. Its a great car, but lately the electrics have started to go wonky.

The clock on the dashboard was the first thing to go - it now only sometimes displays the digits.

Then the rest of the LED display started going. So now, I cant glance down to see if the lights are on, how Im doing for petrol etc. There is a button I can press (I think its for dimming/lightening this display), that will get the display to flash up, but otherwise its rarely on now (it does come on sometimes, and randomly though).

The worst part, though, is the alarm. It starts sounding now totally randomly, and once it starts, it wont stop. On Saturday night for example, it went off +10 times. Each time it sounded, I unlocked it with the key fob. But it automatically locks itself after a short time, and then will start going off again. Theres no rhythm to it that I can figure out. Eventually I left a door ajar, to stop it automatically locking, and all was fine. But then, I wasn't happy leaving a door open all night, so I locked it again before going to bed. After a few hours, and in the middle of the night, in a quiet cul-de-sac, it started going off again - every minute to 5 minutes, for over an hour.

Once it stopped though, it didn't make another sound for the rest of the weekend. It sat there quietly all day yesterday. I had nipped to the shops, but other than that, hadn't used it all day. I drove into work today (5 mins), parked outside the office, and when I got to my desk a minute later, it was going off again!

I now sleep with my keys, and am a very light sleeper, so will often wake to the lights flashing (sometimes happens before alarms starts roaring), or will usually have the key fob pressed within the first beep or two.

Its not ideal. I felt like I had a newborn baby to mind this weekend! And Im worried that my neighbours hate me - especially if I am out of the house, and the car is shouting away, annoying everyone - its totally unfair.

I have tried using the recirculated air function (a mechanic mentioned that there may be caused by blockages in the vents, and this might clear it out); I have tried pressing on (at different times) the lock button and the unlock button on the fob for +1 minute. I have tried getting cross with it, and speaking softly to it.

I may be in the wrong place, so feel free to redirect, but has anyone any idea what I can do to resolve this (Im way too broke at the moment to get it done professionally, and don't want to become the most hated person on the street!)

The car will relock if you press unlock then don't open a door.

You could try locking the car with the key instead.

There is a procedure in the manual for disabling the interior alarm sensors. Think you need to do it each time though.

So it's all displays that are dimming, ie the speedo and the radio display, and the cluster display for the rev counter
