Winter-themed reading recommendations

With winter finally on us from today, does anybody have any recommendations for good novels or short stories, or indeed literature of any kind, based around winter? Something that captures the season, or at least aspects of it.

Tolstoy's Master and Man (1895) is the last memorable winter story I've read. It's about a merchant going to do a business deal with his servant and what happens to both of them when they get caught in a snow storm. Any others?

    Cormas McCarthy's "The Road."

Read a little one on Kindle lately called "A meal in Winter," was ok.

Maybe Dr. Zhivago, but I've never read it.

I like to revisit James Joyce's Dubliners around winter. There's something very bleak and evocative about the collection that reminds me of the winter months.

Dark Matter by Michele Paver, an atmospheric ghost story set in the Arctic circle during the months of Winter. Really captures the atmosphere of life in the arctic during the 1930's, highly recommended.

Miss Smilla's Feeling For Snow. Can't get more wintry than that!

"The Winter War" William R. Trotter. Fairly grim description of combat in a cold clime

Agree with this! It was an impulsive buy for me on Amazon and I thought it was surprisingly good.

An obvious suggestion here... A Christmas Carol.
