    Hi all,
Looking for some advice. Had root canal done 4 yrs ago. Went to another dentist recently who did an X-ray and discovered large abscess under the root canal. Shortly after it gum started to swell. I'm nearly finished course of anti biotics but no noticeable change to the swelling. I've been referred to an endodontist. I've made appointment to see him in 2 weeks time but I was told his standard charge is €975.

Do I have any come back on the dentist who did the original root canal as he didn't fill the root deep enough?
Has any had a similar issue and what was there experience. Is there a cheaper option? I plan to search a bit more and wanted to get opinions here. Many thanks.

I suppose the root canal was successful for 4 years, did you put a crown on it to seal it or just a filling?

There are cheaper option, usually extraction. If you want to save the tooth its a specialist job with expected specialist fees. However the success rate will be high. You quoted figure does not seem out of the ordinary to me.

Remember after you have it retreated, get a crown as soon as possible.
