    Hi everyone,

Today I got an istick and nautilous mini as a bit of an upgrade to my kanger stick.

Reading the instructions, am I right in thinking that you fill the nautilous from the bottom up ?

    TIA

Yup. Just screw off the base and fill from the bottom. Always handy to make sure your coil is in nice and tight as you're doing it too.

Great thanks :) One more if you don't mind, when I unscrew it, the coil comes apart with the upper half staying attached to the top, is that normal?

Ah. That can happen alright. Just unscrew it back out and rescrew it back into your base. A trick that worked for me was to twist the tank section to open the nautilus after loosening the base as opposed just twisting the base if that makes sense?

Edit. Just to add. I used to have the metal cages on my tanks. Not sure if twisting the glass tank is such a good idea!!

Don't over tighten the base either. They can be a nightmare to unscrew.

Before screwing the base back on, rubbing a small bit of liquid around the seal can help when going to unscrew it after.

Hmm I'm not sure about this, double checked the manual and it looks like it's normal for the upper portion of the coil to stay there. It even says to fill the space between the glass tank and inner metal tube?

And the replacement coil that came with it is only the bottom half?

The bit that goes up to the drip tip is more of a chimney, permanently fixed, the atomiser/ coil screws into it. When filling you shouldn't really go above the chimney portion.

If you have no liquid in there, unscrew the coil and have a look.

It is more normal to screw the coil into the base, then screw the two together into the tank and chimney.

Just did thanks, so are you saying don't fill above the lower point of the chimney? The capacity of the glass is 2ml, but the chimney bottom is 0.5 ml.

So just fill to .5 ml?

    .

Heh I did this already, had to use a pliers to unscrew the base :o

When you have it upside down to fill, with the base and coil out, the chimney comes about three quarters way up.

Filling up to the top of the chimney (when upside down) will be 2ml. Filling over that it will just flow down the chimney and out the drip tip.

    I hope that makes sense.

Gotcha, I was looking at it upside down compared to you if that makes sense.

many thanks to you all :)

You can fill it with the coil in the chimney. You could add a bit more liquid that way, but more often than not, when you unscrew the base, the coil will come with it. That only really will be an issue if the liquid is higher than the chimney.

When I was using a nautilus I used to always have a pliers beside my liquid bottles. I never learned.

Are they decent step up from the likes of a kanger stick?

I started on a nautilus, so I can't really compare. But it is supposed to be best tank for flavour that isn't a sub tank.

But using a sub tank is a different type of vapeing. Different to smoking style.

I think you will notice a big difference with the istick. Start off low and work your way up.

Nautilus mini and an istick is a great step up.

For flavour with stock coils (ie ones you don't make yourself), you really can't beat the mini. Most of the advanced vapers keep one or two lying about because the flavour is great and the coils and tank are consistently good.

Is it normal for the nautilous not to smoke?

with the kanger stick I had, you'd inhale and blow out a pile of smoke like normal cigs, but nothing with this setup?

Nope. That's not normal. Should work just as well and maybe a bit better than what you were using. Check your istick settings, is it reading the resistance of the coil etc. In wattage mode the sweet spot on the nautilus was 11-13 watts for me. Everyone is different though. Start low and work your way up until you're getting the hit you desire.

Ah see this is where I'm struggling, I've read the manual and have no idea how to check the setting at all.

Pressing the buttons does nothing, is it possible I've not charged it enough?

Press the button 5 times quickly to turn it on. If still nothing then it probably needs charging :)

Ps. YouTube is your friend when it comes to all of these pieces of equipment. There's a world of videos out there on most mods and tanks at this stage.

    Ah I wasn't doing that :o

Flavour is stronger now that I've done it, but still no smoke/steam.

    Will youtube tomorrow :)

    Here's a link to a review of the istick. (I presume it's the 30w).

And the nautilus. Same principles as the mini :)

I'd say the airflow is off it's mark...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,687 ✭✭✭✭Penny Tration

Sounds like you have the airflow on the tightest setting. There's a twisty dial part on the base of the nautilus. Twist it til you feel it click into place. there are four places where it will click into place, each allowing more air in. The wider the airflow hole, the more vapour you will get. so mess about with the dial til you find one of the four settings that suits you

finally figured this out, it was giving an error message saying atomiser short, so i replaced it with the second one i had and it's working fine now :)
