Engineering Advice?

So I didn't do metalwork for junior cert but I got engineering for leaving. In 5th year we made a clock and a door knocker and I could barely even do that. I'm in 6th year now and have no clue how to design and make something myself without any help. Advice on what i'm supposed to do?
