I was reading an article about home made protein blocks at 40% protein. Has anyone ever tried this? They are made up of molasses, salt, cement and a few other bits, I'd never even heard of them but they sound interesting. Anyone ever try it?

Yeh there's urea molasses and salt and water and stuff and the cement works as both a boding agent and a source of calcium.

I've heard cement being a common ingredient used in homemade molasses blocks before. Don't know what % though. Makes them hard

It's more of a U S thing !urea licks sound great but I'd imagine it's a very fine line between thrive and poisoning the herd 😮 I read up a bit on it but very hard get the correct information although it's basic urea that is used mixed with molasses and the cement makes it solid to avoid over ingestion ! I was thinking bluestone seaweed dolomite and sulphur also added to the mix would give a good balance

Its probably a waste of time using urea here, unless your feeding plenty of meal/tmr there won't be enough energy to turn it into protein
