Audi A6 Quattro front right wheel locking up

The front right-hand wheel completely locks up once I apply the brake. It would occasionally lock up if I applied the brake suddenly and hard. Eventually releasing itself. Now, however it just locks up, this has me baffled. Any suggestions??

It's not a sticky caliper, new brake pads.
Just the one wheel, so it's not the master cylinder!

    Faulty abs unit perhaps?

I had a similar problem, it turned out to be a dodgy brake hose.

If it's definitely not the caliper then the brake hose would be the prime suspect as mentioned above.

Had this happen before, although not the same car. If you open the bleed nipple at the caliper, you may find little bits of rubber in the brake fluid from the brake hose internally degrading. Its an easy enough fix

    Thank you for your help.
All comments appreciated. Will try out the hose and check ABS

Thank you for all you advice
I have changed the brake lines and was working for a while. However once I apply the brakes sharply it seems the problem comes back.

I will try replacing the ABS unit. Will keep you informed.

    Keep the great comments coming.
    Thank you.

You're approaching it the right way anyway. Pads, caliper, hose.
When you put the new pads in, did they move freely inside caliper? Did you grease the pins properly?

Already have installed New calipers new brake pads new brake hoses, the only thing left is the ABS
No ABS light on dashboard however.
Will flush brake fluid completely. I'm sure it's due for new fluid.
If that doesn't fix it.... I don't know what else it can be!
