I don't know whether to consider November as winter.

if you are dividing the year in 4 and using the months as integers then id say winter is dec jan feb
Sámhain is the first night of frost and the first dark of winter rather than real winter
like Imbloc (early Feb) is the first signs of spring rather than real spring
    they are turning points
Funnily enough last night was the first when i had frost on the car so it was very accurate.

its not winter here today, if we had weather like this in August it would have been a decent summer.

Aye. Feck off with bloody winter. I hate it. If I had wings I'd be flying south come september.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

The old is february spring arguement runs and runs. So instead I now view the 15th november as the start of winter. 15th february as the start of spring, 15th may summer and 15th august start of autumn.

It's a compromise timetable but if the seasons do 'turn' it is roughly on these dates you can see the changes.

    yup
efb is talking about the spiritual/traditional turn rather than the actual turn
15 nov till 15 feb is about right weather wise

Winter is very short compared to the other seasons. REALLY, it is.

Just think, after 22 December the nights are getting brighter again, and by the time the kids go back to school after Christmas, the days are lengthening a lot!

So focus on that, and although I love getting into the burrow in Winter, it seems very short to me anyway.

Of course the lengthening days after Winter Solstice doesn't mean the weather will be kind. But it's a sign that Winter is fading away.

    Great isn't it?
