What's the state of play as regards vrt and importing either a car-derived van or small van?

If I understand correctly, all car-derived vans will be subject to the 13.5%?

Would a citroen nemo qualify for the €200 vrt?

Don't think you can get car derived vans in the UK. Afaik car derived vans such as the Auris, Focus, Golf, etc enter Ireland as 3 door passenger cars from the factory and are converted to commercials here. Caddy, Transit Connect, Nemo, etc are different and start out as vans alright but not sure what the VRT rate is on them.

Sorry - should have clarified that I'm looking for a 2nd hand van.
Notwithstanding that, looking at autotrader, seems to be limited to fiesta/corsa/astra estate in terms of car-derived vans. Nothing else listed.

In any event, are these now subject to 13.5% VRT?

    How about a Citroen Nemo?

....or whats the smallest van that still qualifies for the €200 vrt?

I've no idea on the VRT.

Vans like Golfs, Focus were not sold in the Uk so there would be none second hand over there. The Astra estate based van was the only one afaik. Fiesta, Corsa were sold in small numbers, most of them bought by the Royal Mail or Government agencies such as the Airport authorities, councils, etc. Most of these would be white or some odd colour. Vauxhall Combo which is Corsa based is a popular one especially with the Royal Mail.

Give the revenue Commissioners a call. They'll give you the official position. I think their head office as such is in Rosslare

My brother got very good help from them when converting a Fiat Sedici van into a car and sorting out the VRT
