I'm going to be getting a new pair soon for in and around €100 and I was looking at this style

    61bLO81PXnL._UY395_.jpg

    Any recommendations?

I had Footjoy Dryjoys that leaked in under a year (lost reciept) and my last pair of Adizero TR (cheaper ones) constantly lose the cogs. I replaced 8 and again I'm back to 3 per shoe so I'm using an old pair again that are run down, too small and leaking ( Nike Heritage)

    Thanks

Nice shoes but save them for next May is my advice.

Have to agree, they are more firmer ground / better weather shoes. I've had footjoys (not the most expensive, think they were green joys?) but they never lose cleats. There are different types of cleats and different settings, for example the cleats in mine are two "click" or you can go one more "click". for the waterproof aspect I can't say, mine sometimes take on a little in very wet, but then they are probably a year and a half old. I think some of the upper level golf shoes come with a waterproof guarantee. I heard a guy in a golf shop recommend Skechers (they make ones with cleats aswell as summer shoes) to a guy before (they were around 120 not sure which one they were though, but cheaper than the top range FJ, so didn't appear to just be a sales pitch), I'm sure others can recommend other shoes though.

On my second pair of these plimsloe. Brought a pair of the 2014 range in brown and they are without a shadow of doubt the most comfortable shoes I ever had. Going to keep them for the summer. Brought the black 2015 range and find them good but not as comfortable as the first pair. Fine in wet weather too. Only problem is the color can wear off so get some good quality leather protection and they will last a long time.

I was worried about the water proof aspect of them but I think at a certain point they will all let in water.

The grips though would worry me, so they definitely aren't an all weather shoe?

They are surprisingly good in wet weather. Now if the rain is biblical nothing will keep water out. Used my old ones today and socks are bone dry even though grass was very wet.

Have a pair of the brown ashworths I used last winter (and will this year) and was fine. I prefer the moulded soles and have plenty of grip in all conditions.

I'd send an email to Footjoy UK about the leaky shoes (I guess you have no proof of purchase from a credit card statement?). It may not do any good but might work - i heard they have a good customer service.

I take out the spikes and put in a little drop of glue before reinserting the spike - not enough glue to make removing the spikes impossible but enough to keep the spikes from popping out.

Adizero have been the best shoe I have had. Really light and comfortable. Bought a second pair of them while on special on sports direct which iv only put on recently. 18 months the seal lasted in the other. The later version are cheap up there now.

Gotta think it depends on the person so. I played with a big lad yesterday wearing something similar. Slipping all over the shop.

I wouldn't be a big lad at all, 10st when wet ha

It was these ones I have, and aren't some clubs banning those shoes?

I think no shoe will be fully water tight after a certain length of time in the rain but the footjoys were letting in water on wet grass

I've literally no reciept and paid cash plus its over a year ago now :(

I was going to but the fear was if a piece got stuck. In the end they were starting to come out easier aswell from replacing them all the time

I'd be open to the runner type shoe aswell but I'd like something that doesn't clash wildly, like my current bright blue ones ha

Why would anyone be banning them? Apart from being a garish shade of blue they look like normal soft spikes.

One club banned them here that I heard of, can't recall the club but there was a member on here that confirmed.

They are a disaster on soft greens. It's not the soft spikes rather a design flaw in terms of use in wet conditions. Seems to be a lot more pressure applied via the spikes than your standard shoe.

An "adizero banned" search will throw up plenty of results and info.

Worst shoe I ever had. Not comfortable, they stank really bad and, to put the tin hat on it, split between upper and sole after about 8 weeks.

The cleats are raised and would, I imagine, cause damage to wet/soft greens.

God be with the days when Adidas produced decent shoes......

Fair enough. They wouldn't be my thing anyway - I'm an Ecco man myself.

I got the addidas adipure (i think) shoes there recently and i must say they are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. Weren't cheap but well worth it.

I actually used their version of the shoes I pictured above as a rental set in Spain and found them good but they didn't seem to have great grip

My current Adizero TR's were comfortable for me but the laces keep loosening on top of the vanishing cogs

I've owned Adizero and they did sink into soft greens but were very comfortable. I recently bought a pair of FJ DNAs and i'm finding similar issues with soft greens.

I had them in first post dan

A good/ok shoe - well the main thing for me is that a shoe is waterproof as in links grass/rough your feet get soaked.

I ended up wearing them a lot even on way to course - I found this very handy.

they did stink - many of the waterproof shoes don't breath that well.

The grip is summer grip and in fact on certain surfaces they are a bit dangerous to be honest.

The next shoe I got - just to improve grip were these

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSjQ3NzNOOdZYVbFRxA0Kp4Xg08yMr0VftCZVnmnnBA7TrVQTCw

Have to say - loved them and you can see they have little red stronger grips versus most shoes.

And again - 100 % waterproof and for once Adidas back to their best.
They lasted so long - the grips started breaking a little , but I used them when I shouldn't have. A great shoe.

    So first shoe I'd give a 6/10
    2nd - 8/10 nearly 9

I think those are the ones I got on rental in Spain actually and I found them super comfortable.

As you probably seen last time, anything will be an upgrade.

Just sick of buying cogs for the shoes. They're not dear but half way around a course when they fall out it doesn't matter how much they cost

They will. Even a pair of Ecco Gortex failed waterproof wise on me before within 6-8 months of use (but did get them repaled under warranty)

Footjoy Aqualites are a great shoe I find.
Current pair I own is a Puma shoe. Recommeded by a shop manager I know. Bought them for €80ish 3 years ago and they never let in water (only 3 months or so use though)

Haven't had a single problem like that with them. The impression the cleats leave in the green go after a couple minutes. Thats been proven.

Any opinions on Ecco golf shoes. I'm thinking of treating myself to a pair

I love them. Have two pairs. Ones like your link in white for dry weather conditions with no cleats. And a gore tex pair for the wet with cleats. Both are so comfy. Couple of things. The dry weather ones stink, they are so smelly it's unreal. Tried everything but can't get rid of the smell!! Must be my stinky feet!! Make sure and Look after the leather. They are expensive but they last really well. I have my two pairs about two years now and if and when they need changing I'll be going with Ecco again. The gore tex ones have proper cleats and have better grip in the wet. I have slipped a few times in the ones with no cleats. The gore tex ones are excellent in terms of waterproofing. Would defiantly recommend Ecco. Expensive but you can't put a price on comfort during a 4/5 hour round.

I'm a huge fan - got the Ecco Cool III a couple of years ago and they are an incredible shoe - so comfy. Used to get aching feet after a long round but not any more. I wouldn't buy any other brand now
