**edit*** not type r!!! The 1.7 CDTI

I've just had a DISASTEROUS experience with a petrol Mini Cooper that has completely broken my heart!

I am considering going down the diesel route now. Trying to avoid any big engines for insurance reasons (I'm 22!) and the d4d Corolla is a little out of my price range. Does anyone have any experience with the diesel type r civic? Are they reliable?

I drive from Ennis to Galway every day for college so I need something reliable and fuel efficient, (comfort would also be an added bonus!) and am open to any other suggestions if people have them ☺️

There's no such thing as a Type R diesel, I think there is a Type S diesel though.

Sorry yes!! My mistake! I'd been considering a petrol one as well! It's the 1.7 CDTI

What happened with the Mini Cooper? Girlfriend just put 2k into hers after a timing chain slip. Girl in work put 3k in after a timing chain slip just recently. 07/08 Mini Ones with 1.4 engine.

1.6 cooper! Head gasket went! No warning. Had been keeping the coolant and oil topped up and then it overheated on the motorway out of nowhere!

What year is the car? The 1.7 is an Isuzu engine as far as I know, clatterbox and unrefined.

I'm looking at a 04 one. I'd get over the noise as long as it doesn't break down... :/
