    Well folks,

Few problems with my laptop and I just need advice or opinions please...

It stopped locating the wireless in my apartment Wednesday night so now I have to use the cable from the modem to use it now..

And when I boot it up now the screen goes a funny colour of grey for a minute or two then comes right..

Any quick ways of fixing these or is it about to give up on me and I'll have to buy a new model.

    Thanks in advance

Is that the only wifi connection it can't pick up? Might be worth re-installing the wifi driver if it can't detect any networks. Is there a hardware switch to disable the wifi that you may accidentally activated?

Sounds like it's either (a) your screen or (b) the GPU. If you can hook the laptop up to an external display you'll be able to figure out which. If the colour issue is replicated on the external monitor then your GPU is damaged.

Just for clarity, is the WiFi definitely on (your laptop)?

Follow this guide (if you Windows 8)

See if there's a wireless on/off hardware switch anywhere on it, that might have gotten turned off by mistake. Check along the sides or front of the laptop.

Or, there could be a key combination to turn the wireless on. It's usually the Fn button combined with one of the function keys along the top - look for one with a wireless symbol on it.

First thing to try is to right click on the wifi symbol in the taskbar, click "Troubleshoot Problems" and see what it reports.

It's telling me to plug an Ethernet cable into the router when I did that..

    Well folks,

Thanks for the replies.. The wireless adapter needed to be updated so I've done that now and it's working perfectly.. Now all I need is to sort that screen issue out.
