I took a 3 month contract with a company. The contract expired and i remained working there for another 11 weeks without a contract. I did mention to my boss that I did not have a contract to which he replied "neither do I" anyway long story short things got so bad that I switched on my computer one day and typed a one liner saying this is my resignation and left. I have never left a job like that before nor have I ever worked in such a place! my problem is that if i remove them from my C.V. there will be a gap of 10 months and if I leave them on will a potential employer look to them for a reference? I really do not know what to do at this stage. I have a friend asking for my C.V. and I am reluctant to give it to her as this might ruin my chances of getting this job that I really want. Can anybody advise me?

I know this may sound harsh but how did you think putting in this forum would be helpful to you....."don't know where this should go" , come on make a bit of an effort to look to put it in somewhere half relevant

    Sorry for moan

Anytime I've been asked for references I got to choose so I didn't need to give a reference from the most recent employer. You would write on your cv references available on request if they come looking for one just give them ones that you feel comfortable with. I dont know if that helps.

Leave it on you CV, if asked about it , never say anything bad about a previous contract , say it was a fixed term contract and they aren't were scaling back or something

It was a 6 month contract, they asked you to stay on to round of a few projects.

The company have a policy of no references (not unusual). Do you have any friends in there you trust for a reference?

It is a very small company. Everybody that works there is new (very high turnover of staff ) so nobody actually working there would give a reference. I do have very good references from previous employers but I'm just afraid incase I am asked to give this company.
