Well we bought a 2011 C5, 1.6 Diesel and one year on are more than happy with the purchase. Passed the NCT recently with no problems and would recommend the car to anyone.

Have a 2010. Very happy with it. Watch out for the DPF additive (ELOYS fluid) which needs to be refilled every 100,000miles app. Comfortable car but could do with a 6th gear. Still enjoy driving it though.☺

Old thread I know, but the OP and I both had rover 75s.

I just changed to C5 so I wondering did the OP get a C5 in the end.
It was the closest thing I could find to match the Rover, I went with the 2L as recommended on another thread here.

1.6 not great on the motorway, I'd suggest the 2.0 if possible.

    Yep, got the 2L.
Just getting used to it at the moment. I have stalled it a couple of times, the 75 has an autobox.

I bought a 1.6 estate, 6 mths. & 10,000 kms. on, I'm pleased with it, 55mpg, good road holding, but I do miss the 75.

Thinking about buying one...what spec, and how are you finding it?

    @aujopimur, I guess I'm following suit.:)

The last two cars I had were rover 75s, first one was written of in an accident so I got an identical model. It took me months to find the second one, both diesel autos. There is a club for them and I go to the odd meet.

My commute has changed and I've saved a bit of cash driving 75s so I looked for a similar car to the 75. I tried a few other estates , golfs, superb , 508. I liked the styling on the c5 and the specification. The VAGs are sparsely equipped, so I settled on getting a 2L exclusive mainly to get the hydractive suspension.

To be honest some of the cars I visited on dealers forecourts were in very poor condition for the money.

I test drove a few C5s locally and further afield.I almost went for an automatic one down in Clare but the mileage was little high at 120 thousand miles. It drove lovely though, and the steering rack had been done on it, apparently seal failure at the pinion is common enough.

In the end I found one in the UK , a 2011 with 40 thousand miles and service history at one of those car supermarket type places so I paid a holding deposit on it and got a flight for a tenner.

With the drive back etc, I've clocked 600KM and it feels really great, lots of little features and quirks on it on it so its a bit of a learning curve.
I do miss the autobox, sunroof and the all important cupholder from the 75, but those were way out of budget for the C5. The autobox would double the VRT.

I can't fault mine, but it doesn't do it for me, maybe I was a bit spoilt in the 75 and previous Mercs Volvos etc. I'm starting to trawl online for a Jag or Volvo estate, My next may be my last purchase.

The 75 is near impossible to beat in value for money. I did 42000 miles in the last one for about 3 grand in purchase and fixing up.

I did the previous 13 years in a defender I bought new, didn't even have a radio. Hope to get 80k and 4 years from the C5.

When you say last car, are you getting on in years? I've a few more to buy before I'm done.
Hopefully the next one will be an electric estate.
Other half has a leaf so the C5 is needed for the heavy lifting of family motoring.
