    Hi,

I'm organising travel etc for over 40 people. I don't want to post my bank details to the WhatsApp or Facebook group.. What are my best options to collect group payments and then transfer the money into my my account.

    Cheers

You can let it rest in my account if that suits

Will the money be just resting in your account?

I suppose I could go with the love hate approach.. But I was thinking more along the lines of PayPal

Why not? The details that you would furnish in order to receive payment (IBAN, BIC) can not be used to take money from your account. Many businesses have their IBAN and BIC printed on forms that they issue to customers/clients.

A heads-up for you: if you are arranging a package (e.g. transport & accommodation) rather than just a single thing such as a group booking of tickets, you are exposing yourself to potentially large legal liability if things go wrong.

I have seem bank account details before on Facebook but I would prefer to have a staging account that people can put there money into with a reference. Is PayPal the best option? Can PayPal be treated like a bank account?

You have to pay fees to use paypal. Your BIC and IBAN are useless. Someone else needs to have more secure details to access your account to say withdraw money. In Germany most of their version of visa debit has the person bank account details writing on them. Most Irish companies write their bank details on the invoice

Giving people you BIC and IBAC is pretty secure
