Would it count as a years no claims bonus?

So I'm just getting on my feet driving by myself. I have my own car, getting absolutely shafted for insurance quotes everywhere because I'm still only 19. So while I was a learner, I spent 6 months with Aviva as a named driver, I wasn't able to drive for about 3 months, and then I went as a named driver with Allianz (both under my parents policies), so I have 6 months on, 3 off and 3 back on.

Would that gap mean that I don't have a years no claims? I was on the phone to Aviva there, and explained the situation and the woman seemed to consider that a year, so I'm confused as to whether that would be pretty standard or not.

    Thanks.

Nope; named driver means nothing for no claims bonus which is exactly why the advise keep coming up over and over again to young drivers hoping to get away with a cheap quote by piggy backing on their parents and lie to the insurance company to bite the bullet and simply start building it up.

A lot of insurers will include named driving as a NCB discount actually. But the OP only has 6 months, so I think that would be the major stumbling block.

Insurers would be looking for 12 months consecutive claim free driving. Also, what you would have if you had remained on the policy with be 1 year's named driving experience, not 1 year's no claim bonus. Insurers treat these differently
