I think War Envoy could be good value @20/1 tonight in the Dirt Mile.

Alice springs for me tonight and have a feeling Shogun will run a decent race from his good draw and may place

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,018 ✭✭✭kksaints

Would also be a fan of Shogun in the juvenile turf tonight. Catch a Glimpse in the juvenile fillies turf is also a possible bet for me.

We are privileged to be watching somebody like Ryan Moore ride day in, day out while he's in his prime. Unbelievable!

Great start for the European raiders, brilliant by Ryan Moore. Just a note to anyone betting on European horses in particular, the odds are much better on the US tote usually than our bookmakers. You can take advantage of these odds through a lot of bookies and on the Irish tote through thetote.com. E.g. War Envoy was 16s with bookmakers and 33s over on the US tote.

Super ride from Ryan Moore. If you'd backed him you would've been cursing him coming into the straight.

Hope Legatissimo can win tomorrow and surely Gleneagles is better than the 20/1 being offered during the week.

Enzo's presence is killing the buzz in the studio.

But can US odds be got in my local bookmakers shop?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 423 ✭✭Clampdown

I love American Pharoah but I don't think he'll win this, with it being his last race and being a public darling I would have thought his odds would be more like Golden Horns in his race 8/13 or so. 5/6 is short but in the US most people only bet these big races and they would get killed if he wins it at 5/6.

Tonalist flopped last year but I think he can win this year, him and Smooth Roller are my 2 bets. I like Gleneagles who is 10/1 now but can't see him turning over the triple crown winner and the jockeys gold cup winner unless he really takes a liking to soft dirt.

I didn't expect Golden Horn to be so short but he is a horse that I'll keep backing and I'll take him at 8/13 before I take Pharaoh at 5/6. When Horn turns on the jets he blows other horses away which makes me less concerned about his bad draw.

I've added a breeders Cup competition to today's Tipzer festivals. tipzer.net

Not too wild about Golden Horn today, he's been on the go for a long time. Although the competition is weak enough his price doesn't reflect how tricky winning this afterthought of a race may be.

If he does win I'll be delighted and he will go down as an Iron Horse type legend for his soundness.

Mondialiste is an interesting runner in the Mile Turf.

Has to be big doubts about Golden Horn and Legattisimo today, the odds quoted by the UK bookies look pretty short.

Very strong looking 6:10 race. Legatissimo a worthy favourite but Stephanie's Kitten looks a sound bet too at 10s

looked like Legatissimo had a bad start there and didnt look to really settle at all

that's why I never bet big on US racing, races are won and lost in the first furlong with the constant strong gallop they go.
well that, and that half the horses are drugged up to the nostrils.

Have done found and Pharo in a double

delighted Found won....christ the ATR studio are sick lol

before the race they said ´we need Golden Horn to win for Britian and Europe'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,956 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Golden Horn looked very tired there. Think this trip was just one race too many, especially after Leopardstown and Longchamp.

I wonder will she be kept in training as a 4yo? Great filly.

Atr saying Found was given Lasix while Horn given nothing.

No excuse anyway, when the Horn go to the front thought it was done and dusted. First time Horn failed to show the staying machine that he is.

Surface likely cause. Still, not sure he would have touched the winner today, despite hating the trainers white teeth

Watching that replay - American Pharoah didn't just win, it battered the opposition. He looks like he could go again.

Horn losing cost me a nice accumulator, Pharaoh made that a procession. Delighted for nag.

The trick is not to bet on the other half!

In fairness, both he and Golden Horn danced every dance in their 3yo careers unlike the mollycoddled Frankel and Gleneagles this year.

Tough as teak that American Pharoah is. A proper champion can take their racing and mix their trips.

Found surely stays in training. Deserved a big win like that. Interesting to see if she goes to Japan or Hong Kong. Maybe rested now and brought back for the Sheema Classic.

Golden Horn great season, just one ask too many.

Gleneagles never in it - people forget he's had a hard season. Despite not running for much of it he was ready to run for much of it.

I wonder how history will remember American Pharaoh? In time will he be mentioned with the likes of Secreteriat, Affirmed, Man O'War and Cigar. Triple Crown and BC Classic. It might never be done again.

Agree completely. Golden Horn is a monster of a horse regardless of the result. I watched it at Leopardstown and afterwards in the parade ring I thought it looked knackered - for it to then go on to win at Longchamp in itself was a spectacular achievement. To think they could go to the breeders cup after such a season was just blatant over-confidence. Maybe they thought the horse could go onto eclipse Sea The Stars or something.

Found was comfortably beaten by Golden Horn twice before going on lasix and reversing the form at Keeneland. Of course there are other factors involved like Found getting a decent ride for once, how they took to the travelling etc but I can't help but think the fact she got lasix played a major part.

It's a shame to see a champion like Golden Horn beaten this way IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,162 ✭✭✭Backstreet Moyes

Golden Horn had a tough season and fair play a true champion. Great the connections went for this race, compared to Frankel who never traveled.

I was totally wrong about everything. Delighted for Pharaoh though he is an amazing horse, tough and talented. Really glad for Found as well. As usual any time I don't back Ryan Moore he wins but if I put a penny on him he can't find the line. I can't stand him because of that even though he seems like an alright bloke.
