    Hi

About 8 months ago I moved to a new office and beside one of my co workers. I only knew her a little bit before that but sinsce sitting beside her I gotten to know her a good bit. Has it been too long a time to ask her out? What do I say to her, work never go out together so it's difficult to get any opportunity to socialise with her.

    Any advice would be appreciated

Assumign she is single, why not ask her for lunch first or just bite the bullet and ask her to go for a drink\coffee.

Have you considered how the atmosphere may change if she says no. Or if she says yes? Mixing work and pleasure is far from ideal and is frowned upon or even prohibited in some workplaces

i agree with above ^. think it out long term. if it works, great, but if it doesn't, it can change the dynamic in the workplace.

You sit too close at the moment, if it doesn't work out your making yourself a very awkward situation. I was placed beside a guy I'd had a history with in college before, and the first few months were just awful

Wait till one of you moves is my advice

Thanks for above advice guys, yea actually it probably is a really bad idea. I'll see if one of us move or the situation changes in the future...

That's probably why I've been procrastinating on it so much

That's as good a way to open as any; "Shame they never go out here, we could do with a bit of a social scene. Do you think they'd be interested? Will we suggest something?". Take the conversation from there and you'll probably find out a lot about whether she's interested, then softly softly so either of you can back away without altering the dynamic if it looks like there's no mutual interest in taking it outside the office. Don't start with suggesting something romantic, keep it light. If the night with workmates comes off, you can spend social time together with no pressure.
