Just thought it might be worth starting a thread for guys to advertise their club long pheasant competitions for Sunday. My personal interest is the ones that will be held around the midlands??

Hi most gun clubs run the longest tail for there members that put the work in to rear birds and control vermin
Why would you want to open it up to people from outside the area

We have longest tail and heaviest bird, Plaque for both

We hold one that's open to all. Normally 8 or 10 small prizes for longest and heaviest bird. Everybody gets something outta it really. 10 euro entry. It's just a bit of craic. We found cash prizes just enticed lads to cheat

do the local landowners not be pissed off ye are letting non members (non locals) onto their lands that the club has permission on?

I think non members shoot their own permissions! That's what I always thought anyway!

Is that aimed at my comment? The competition is open to every 1 not the shooting land ;-) they shoot where they have their own permission and just come to the pub for the competition with whatever they get.

Ah right I wasnt getting that, thought you were opening up the clubs lands for the day !

The ones I enter are open to anyone, you pay your entry for the competitions and you shoot your permissions whether they maybe in that particular club or elsewhere. I used to enter two competitions on the first, one in my own club and one in a neighbouring club, I never got anything out of either!

How do you avoid people cheating? - stuffing lead down the throat into the carcass to make it heavier!
