    Hi everyone,
I'm getting stove insert installed and today they told me the cannot get the liner down chimney. They kept trying for 2 hours but no luck. So they will install it without the liner. I asked him if it's safe a he said the chimney will provide protection for walls. Anyone could give me advice if that's OK. Thanks a lot.

    Old house, newish house ?
    Was the chimney in use?
Was it cleaned professionally prior to fitting?
    Registered fitter?
Did they put a camera up the chimney?
    So many situations arise.

House is 10 years old. Yes, the chimney was used by previous owners.
Chimney was not cleaned prior instalation, but plumber said its quite clean. Plumber is SEAI registered, good reputation.

They didn't put the camera down, I'll ask him if he can do it.
He said there is something 2m from bottom that is blocking it. The opening on the stove is 5 inch, so he is going to ask the manufacturer if it's OK to use 5 inch liner instead of 6. Maybe that one would push thru.

Mostly all good then, 2 meters from the bottom is where the chimney changes from straight to an s bend shape, also where a lot of creosote may gather , id be inclined to get a good chimney sweep in, preferably one that can camera it , clean it with more than bushes and look at it and then try again.
Put the flue in especially if there may be issues.
