Never had a carbon bike and was looking at a old 2012 model it's in good condition but someone told me that the old carbon bikes frames crank easy if crashed in a race that I be better of trying to buy a newer model cos the carbon frame is alot stronger now days. Is this true?

if your planning yo use it to race buying a cheaper 2012 carbon frame makes sense. You dont want to spend big money on a new carbon bike crash it in a race and end up with a broken frame.

2012 is not old! If you had an old CADEX from the 1990's...well that IS old!

Three years old I think, crashed twice by previous owner and then used as winter bike. Paint touch up and kitted out myself and is my new racing bike. Mondello done on it and plenty of training spins. 2012 is not old.

    No they dont.

I have a 2009 Felt F5 and it has gotton thrashed, crashed and bantied around since I got it in 2010. I have covered around 50,000 kms on it. Raced, trained and commuted hard. Abused it steady for years with no cracking.

Nothing only the usual bull with chains cassettes chainrings bottom bracket at a stage. Wheels got updated 2 years ago.

I once heard a cracking noise from the front end which did put the s**ts on me admittedly but it was only the headset.

If you can get your hands on it - go for it. At the end of the day if you arent fit a €25,000 bike wont matter one jot. Concentrate on getting to the startline as easy as you can.
