Are there any job sites that allow sorting job listings by salary? I see most of the big ones in the UK have it but I haven't come across any here? Am I just looking in the wrong places or is salary not really allowed to be a factor when looking for a job here!

Salary can often be a dirty word jobseeking in Ireland as far as I can tell.

I havent seen a salary sort on any of the more popular sites although I think you can sort by salary on the FAS job page (which has very little of any interest to most professionals anyway).

Glassdoor literally only launched in ireland yesterday.

Honestly I think if places like irishjobs.ie gave us that option we would see more listings with salary in there in the first place. As most people would use it I feel.

I don't want to waste my time (and the companies time) applying for a job only to find out its way below the salary I'm looking for!

I assume if there is no salary listed that its going to be too low (they are embarrassed to state it!).

Although if it looks very interesting I will email and ask for salary and location details. If they are not upfront on salary details immediately I move on.

Most jobs here are advertised without salary information so searching by salary or ranking by salary will leave out a lot of positions.

That's not necessarily true. Think about senior jobs - generally speaking, applicants know what they are worth. Is a company going to turn off candidates by offering a salary that is too low? Are they going to be swamped by irrelevant applications as they salary is so high?

It is quite normal not to show salary.

Actually any that I have seen with no salary listed that I enquired after (for a senior position) all came back with far too low an amount.

Recruitment agency placeholders on job websites (where they are just harvesting CVs and there is no actual role behind the advertisement) often show no salary also.

Job hunting in Ireland is like a game.

    1. Work out what you're worth

    2. Apply for job

    3. Tell recruiter what you're worth

If you get an offer of interview, they think you're worth it. If not, move on...

    Pretty good system, I think.
