Forgive the poor title if it is bad but I'm a bit inspired to first buy, load and use a raspberry pi 2 as an emulation station at home but to encorporate it with a coffee table somehow.

Now I know and read stories of people creating arcade ikea builds for the ramivik table years ago bit I am just wondering in terms of the pi, had anyone though or done a build/combo of a pi running arcade games plugged into a TV mounted or other onto a coffee table in a slick way? Maybe something along the lines of this?

So essentially what I want to do is an IKEA coffee table mod with a TV running arcade stuffs from the pi in a slick, cool compact way. Like your man's above. I know that table he used is still available but if anyone finds or has used a better one available let me know or any ideas when approaching this. Anyone who know where the best place to pick up a 19-24" flatscreen with HDMI let me know to. Same with the Pi, cheaper the better. Cheers.

I cut down a pair of Ikea Julius stools to make a lovely pair of japanese-style stools to go under the candy cabs.

I often used to dream of building/buying an emulation setup in a coffee table, but the thought of a child pouring their Ribena into it was too much.

Ive only really seen the Ramvik and the custom made bartops https://vimeo.com/30660820.

Is this because you couldnt get the cocktail cabinet on Adverts? It was too expensive, you were correct.

Yeah, none have really turned up in recent times, I just though something like this would look really cool, also I would end up using my ouya and a frontend on it to make to more powerful and saves me buying a pi for the project.

Yep the idea of it is pretty cool, no kids but I can see your point possibly materializing down the future, ribina would kill off everything! 😀

Just to update. I have decided to use the ouya I have as an Emulation station. Going to buy a Snes usb too but I am looking for a monitor with a HDMI output between 19" & 24" perhaps?
Something to play the games at full screen that look well, I currently play the ouya on a 32" and find it not great due to the screen being too big. Still undecided on the Ikea furniture I want to use for it yet, it will probably be the last bit to the build. Also going to pick up a claw like mount for the tv.

Can anyone recommend where I can pick up a monitor with HDMI cheap enough?

Yeah Ed, I am still looking for a cocktail cab, I saw the one you posted which is being auctioned but I imagine that would be expensive including shipping, so Ill have to go with the next best thing. I have the update above if you have any advice.
