    It might be because I was a child of the early 80's, but I've always had a fascination with the machinations of the Cold War. From the posturing of Stalin; to Reagan demanding that they tear down the wall.     Early days of Eastern Europe/Iron Curtain I'd recommend works by Anne Applebaum such as her "Iron Curtain" and a recent book "1946".

    I rather enjoyed "Cold war Hot", which is alternate history series based on the premise of "What would happen if just one different decision was made", such as "A MiG pilot got too aggressive during the Berlin Airlift"
