RCT didn't offset against Prelim Tax

    Hi,

Submitting a fairly straight forward FORM 11 return for a family member. He is a tradesman registered for RCT.

When I get to the final page on ROS I plug in the prelim for next year and it displays the amount of RCT he has available to offset. The problem is it doesn't offset it, it asks for payment instead.

Should I file it a click the "no payment" option and assume that Revenue automatically do the offset or is there something I need to do i.e ring revenue and ask them to offset it?

Paranoid that i'm doing it wrong, thanks in advance.

I had this with a client recently. It would show me the RCT refund available but wouldn't offset it. I declared the preliminary tax for 2015 but didn't pay it and a day or two later, Revenue offset it automatically and sent an RCT statement via ROS showing same.

Thanks for your post. I'll keep an eye on ROS over the next day or two and hopefully they do the offset.

Just a follow up to this.

I filed without payment and sure enough within a few days Revenue calculated the offsets and did them all on his behalf. While it was handy that they did this it would be better if they just gave a prompt to say so!

Anyway, all worked out. Cheers for the response.
