    Hi all,

Whats the fastest/cheapest way of getting into the city centre from Brussels Charleroi Airport? Is the shuttle bus the best way to go? We arrive in at 10.30pm would that have any affect on it? and lastly where does it leave you off?

    Many thanks in advance.:)

    Coach operator website.

    Journey time =1hr.

Drops off at Bruss-Midi railway station, the main large station.

indeed, and Ryanair now flys 3times a day to Brussels proper for as low as €15 each way.

Last flight leaving Dublin is "only" at 4.30pm or that so more suited to getting people back from a day of work in Brussels (7.45pm Brussels departure is damn near perfect to be honest) than irish people looking to leave work as late as possible

I flew into Charleroi a couple times before Ryanair started the International airport route.

The shuttle bus is pretty good but I found that taxis directly outside the airport try to get 6 or 7 people together to car share into Brussels Midi and pay the same price as the bus. It's a bit quicker and less waiting around for the bus to leave.

    Worth considering

The times for Charleroi suit me a lot better. Late Friday and Late Sunday return is ideal and if the shuttle bus is only an hour then it will be worth it imo.

Thanks for your reply. I will defo be asking a few passengers close by if they are going to the city centre. Would rather this and plus the hotel would another 10-15 mins on the train after the shuttle bus.

The train system in belgium is superb, its a pity you're not flying into zavantem, if you're under 24 you can go anywhere in the country for €6 quid, i think the ticket is called a flexi pass. If you can get into one of the train stations in charleroi you should be in bruxelles midi in no time.

    **edit**

Its a go pass 1 and its €6 for under 26

    In a tiff,

Myself and my husband are going next week but have just realised just how far away the airport is. We would have booked with the Brussels Shuttle but it is 28Euro each for a return ticket. This is a little bit steep especially for a bus that I probably won't even be able to find! What are my alternatives? I have heard there is another bus that runs for a little cheaper but I wonder how reliable it is. We are not going for long so I don't want to spoil the first day spending ages trying to get to the hotel! How far is the station from the airport and could I walk to it?

    Thanks guys any hellp appreciated!!

Why do you think you won't be able to find the bus? Charleroi isn't Heathrow, or even Dublin. It's quite a small airport and very easy to find where you need to go. When you walk out of the airport door, the bus stop will be directly to your right.

The train station isn't anywhere near the airport & definitely not walkable. It's 10 km away, in the city of Charleroi itself. Getting the bus to the station and then a train into Brussels won't be much cheaper than just getting the bus directly from the airport into Brussels & will be more time consuming. Charleroi is is over 60km from Brussels, so its hard to find a super cheap way to get there. You could try canvasing people in the taxi queue and see if anyone wants to share taxi into Brussels with you. But given the distance, its hard to see any of you paying less than a tenner a head & it will be a less comfortable trip than the nice, spacious coach.
