    Probably too late for advice but buy the laptop with the most powerful processor for the price you're willing to pay. Drives, memory you can upgrade later.

    Got this one a week or two and it is very quick- and even better once upgraded to Windows 10 for free (Win 8.1 isn't great).

    With your budget you could probably improve the processor as mentioned above too, a solid state further down the line would also make it quicker.

    Lenovo have had a bad rep of late. I certainly wouldn't be buying their hardware at the moment.

    Haven't heard that- saw this model recommended elsewhere on here. Hope you're wrong anyway!
