Assuming nuclear weapons don't exist, does the US have the military capability to invade and conquer Russia?

They can't conquer a bloody run of the mill Middle East country. What makes you think they could do THAT?

With the restrictive ROEs they had in place, they hadn't a ****ing chance.

Russia would whoop USA with conventional weapons and determination. Nukes are the only way they would beat Russia if they could stop Russia launching of shooting down their missiles but we all loose at that point.

I read an article a few months ago about the pentagons assessment if this.

They think they could defeat Russia, but it would take everything they had to do so.

Looking at the qualitative & quantitative matchup, I'd go along with it.

From the war-playing aspect of it, in such a struggle the various supporting allies on either side could be decisive. For instance a Chinese blue water fleet would tie down much of the US's own.

A navy capable of large scale manouvers far away from home port.

Russia's navy is smaller & less capable of expeditionary action and is called a 'Green water' navy.

Then the small navies working in or close to shore are referred sometimes as 'Brown water' navies.

Russia has few military allies.... Namely:

In this hypothesis we're discussing I don't think China would involve itself on Russia's behalf.

There is no treaty obligation despite the close-ish ties.
China is happy to buy and/or steal Russian military tech as it needs, but I'm certain she'd sit this one out.

It's easy to forget that Russia & China have often been less than friendly at times.

And aside from a reducing need for Russian military tech, China relies on Russia for nothing.

This is apparently an alt-account and thread created to get around a ban.
