Hi guys I want to know if I can get insured in a Honda CRX 1.5 dual carb as a named driver we've had this car for many years and I've been doing bits and pieces to it as I go along! I am only 17 but if I go down as a named driver can I get insured?

Will you be the main driver of the car?

It all depends if I get insured in it really! But my fate would probably use it more

Great car - I've had two of them. I had my second one insured on a classic policy. All drivers had to be over 25 and it had to be a second car.

I don't think there is much hope for you shorty term TBH. the best advice is to get a small engined car that's cheap to insure and get a couple of years NCB built up.

There is an Irish owners forum at http://cr-x.org/crxorg/forum/ - nice bunch of lads too.

As said above, if your father is not the main driver then this is called Fronting. Your insurance would not be valid. Insurance companies are wide to this - you won't get away with it.

If your father insured it as his own car and was the main driver, it's possible you may be able to get insured as a named driver. If it's not his main car, he would have to start without a no claims bonus. As they are a high risk car that will be expensive. Even then there is no guarantee they will cover you even as a named driver. The only people who could tell you for sure are his insurance company.
