It shipped 18th september, still havent got. Raised a ticket with them, said to check local post office who dont have it.

Anywhere else I can try, would customs have it? value was 30 dollars in one of those white envelope things.

Theres a tracking number but was sent china post unregistered so dont think theres anyway to get where it is in the system.

File a claim with them and get your money back. Customs would send you a letter but not likely for that amount

I think you mean you don't have to sign for it. This is just a tracking number.

neither 17track or anpost have the number

    its CNxxxxxxxxxxxxx

All tracking numbers for china seem to be with the CN on the other end though

    I'll get back to gearbest

registered post begins with RL, then the country is at the end so CN eg, RL128933897CN

gearbest responded very quickly in the ticket, said to wait until delivery date is passed which is 18th november (60 days for delivery??) , if still haven't received then open another ticket and can resolve then. They seem decent about it. Will update after.

Have to say ordering from chinese sites for years (maybe 40-50 orders), I know theres lots of stories about orders not making it but this is the first order I havent got within 4 weeks.

I find Gearbest to be the worst for this - last time it happened to me they offered to resend my order but i had to pay a small fee (I think it was 5 USD on a 35 USD purchase), but I would have been completely out of pocket otherwise.

so follow up, after they said to wait until 18th nov (deadline) I still hadnt received so I opened another ticket, they took 2 weeks to reply, several to and fro's at which point they pushed the deadline out for another month to 18th Dec which would make it a 12 week delivery.

I've asked for a refund at this point. It was for some iphone cables, my local pound shop has them at same price.

what to do here? Im offered either a partial refund or nearly half the cost of the item to ship it again, either way half the money down.
We apologize with this delay and sincerely regret you have not received your order.
Unfortunately,it appears that your order has been lost on the way.
After reviewing your order in detail, we found out you haven't purchased any insurance during the check-out. Please understand, that in such case we can only compensate you partially.
The shipping company is actually responsible for this loss which is sadly beyond our control.

However as you are a valuable customer for us, we are willing to help you the best way we possibly can.
Here are the best solutions we can offer you in this situation:

    1)Reship the parcel
We can resend the same parcel to you. For this, please kindly send us 15.2USD so that we can arrange the shipment. We can offer you a tracking number for this shipment and it will take 10 to 25 business days to reach you.We will send you an invoice by email if you choose this option.
Please reconfirm your delivery address one last time:

2)Partial refund on your Wallet(Store credit)
We can refund 15.2USD as a proof of good will on your wallet and exceptionally reward you with extra points (e.g. If your refund is 1USD = 5 points ,3USD =3*5 points => get 15 points etc).
You can use both your wallet and points to purchase your future products.

I get the point about the insurance.

Anyone know if I can I claim back on my visa instead?

Yes you can. Contact your bank and ask for a chargeback for non-delivery of goods. Have your paper trail printed off and do it quickly, you only have 120 days

answered myself, I rang my card providor, insurance is built into a visa card but not a visa debit. However as part of the visa system if I fail to get goods/services then we can apply for investigation by visa, so I send in a letter to my banks visa dept for them to investigate with history of the transaction

I dont think its gearbests fault, I got the mail with the photo of the item being sent, so more the postal system. Lessons learned? yes. pay with visa in future to avail of insurance in case of failed delivery.
